Anasthasia Millot

Anasthasia Millot

Anasthasia Millot’s designs of deceptive simplicity turn light into a material to be manipulated. Millot manages to draw movement out of metal, causing light to glide along highly polished surfaces through her signature technique of twisting bronze. Each element of her understated and sublimely proportioned pieces conveys a character entirely its own. Having originally studied fashion design in Paris, Millot’s fascination with the draping of textiles is evident in her bronzework. Each twist in her designs allude to the fluidity of cloth shaped by the pull of gravity, rather than the expertise of her own hand, resulting in captivating irregularities in the metal. Graceful undulations of highly reflective bronze lend an illusory quality of lightness to her pieces, despite their static reality. Millot creates her cunningly elegant works in the foundry of her childhood friend and husband, Didier Redoutey.
